About The Client

The client is a multinational financial services company headquartered in Hong Kong. Sonic ESB was used to integrate approximately 30 internal systems as well as external messaging systems such as SWIFT.

Project Overview

In 2013, the Sonic ESB version reached the end-of-support cycle. The company faced rising challenges in maintaining and supporting this system which was a key factor in its IT landscape. The challenges included:

  • Customized programs for integration logic and no defined source control tool led to fragmented and unmanageable source codes
  • Difficulty in recruiting Sonic ESB skilled staff
  • The tool could only run on older Windows versions, infringing the company’s IT and security policy
  • Slow HA failover and inadequate DR design
  • The presence of no built-in services catalog and management. Excel was used to track the integration services, connectivity, consumers, producers, etc
  • Non-supportive integration with cloud-based applications such as Workday and ServiceNow
