About The Client

The client was a Singapore-based growing logistics concern that had acquired a Spanish forwarding company to expand its presence in the EU. The group’s global strategy was to standardize its Cargowise operations – the market leader in integrated systems for the forwarding industry. The Spanish operator used a freight operation system from a local vendor, integrations developed with the Barcelona Portic system and the Spanish customs and tax bureau over the years. These integrations were crucial for running the import and export processes. The time taken for integrating Cargowise with traditional middleware couldn’t meet the business’ timeline so the implementation consulting company recommended Boomi, which could reduce integration timespan by up to 70%.

Project Overview

Integration with Portic was a complex process as there are over 20 messages in the import and export process. Along with the integrations of the Spanish Tax Agency and Customs, there were 25 messages overall in this project.

Benefits & Results

  • With the experienced team in ocean transportation and Cargowise data message domain, we designed the integration processes and data mapping involving Cargowise, Poetic AEAT, and BFirst systems
  • Two consultants were assigned to the project and they handled the Boomi setup and configuration, implementation, and testing of 25 integration processes
  • We worked closely with the Cargowise consultants in Singapore and the client’s office in Spain. We were flexible and able to work with Spanish technical documents as well
  • Go-live support was provided at the customer’s time zone to ensure the timely resolution of any initial production issues
  • The integration was completed in 3 months, was on schedule, and met the client’s business timeline
